About the Church

Pastor Afolarin Ogunyinka Ministring on Stage
Hermon City Church was inaugurated on May 2nd, 2004. The inaugural service was held at the Ashbury Hall of the Mirage Hotel MCC Rd, Calabar.

The Church is founded on the grounds of a strong burden the Lord had put in the heart of its Founding Pastor – Pastor Afolarin Ogunyinka, to start a church patterned after the Church at Antioch in Acts 11. Its vision in summary is to raise Christ-Apostles who are peculiar, purpose-driven, promoting service and preserving the unity of His Church.

After resignation from the denomination he formerly pastored to the position of Zonal Pastor, prayer meetings began April 1st, 2004 with 5 brethren in attendance in the parlour of his then residence (6, Itok Orok Street, off Ediba Road, Behind Marian Market). The prayer meetings grew to about 30 within that month. A test-run service was held on April 25th, 2004 with 86 people in attendance including children.

On June 26th 2011, the church started a branch in Gwarinpa, Abuja. The Branch was started by divine direction given to the Head Pastor to contribute our quota in raising the next generation of leaders for the future that will ensure good governance in Nigeria, also organise welfare evangelism especially among the unread and “unchurched” in Northern Nigeria.

In November 2nd, 2014, the Church started a branch in Pretoria, South Africa and this was birthed with the mandate from God to the Presiding Apostle known as Taking Every Nation (T.E.N).

All the Churches have gradually  grown numerically, spiritually, financially and socially since then to the glory of God despite the odds and challenges.

The foundation scripture for this Commission is Psalm 133: 1-3. Hermon means to stand out abruptly. It also comes from a root Hebrew word which implies to be consecrated to God. Physically Mount Hermon was always known for its freshness all through the year due to the regular descent of dew on the mountain.

‘City’, because we believe we are a people set and concretely appointed by God to express the Hermon concept.
